Kinnickinnic Cleanup: Fall 2008

Milwaukee
Riverkeeper and our partners, Sixteenth Street Community
Health Center, Groundwork Milwaukee, Bay View
Neighborhood Association, Americorps and Milwaukee
County Parks organized a cleanup of the Kinnickinnic
River and surrounding neighborhood on October 11, 2008.
The cleanup was based at Cleveland Park, where there
were activities for kids, music and food.
Over 100 people joined to make a difference for the
Kinnickinnic!

Over 1,200 volunteers made our Spring cleanup the
biggest yet! Volunteers cleaned trash from over 35
locations on a beautiful April morning.

Kinnickinnic Cleanup: Fall 2006

Over 120
volunteers gathered to clean one of the most polluted
areas in the entire watershed: the Kinnickinnic River
between Chase and Lincoln Avenues. Volunteers
filled 4 dumpsters with 100,000 pounds of trash, an FMR
all-time record for a single cleanup event.

In an effort to curb the continuous degradation of Milwaukee’s
three rivers over 1,100 volunteers, coordinated by Friends
of Milwaukee’s Rivers, removed literally tons of shopping carts,
tires, pipes and other garbage from the polluted water Saturday.

Kinnickinnic Cleanup: Fall 2005

Over 80
volunteers gathered at our first ever cleanup involving
a crane. Conditions were wet and cold, but
volunteers came out in droves to help improve the
cleanliness of the Kinnickinnic.
